Niels van Nuland (Helmond (NL) 1981) is working as Global Competition Law Counsel at Gilead Sciences, based in Brussels. He has nearly 20 years of professional experience, both in-house and in private practice. Before joining Gilead Sciences as Head of Legal Benelux in 2013, Niels worked as attorney-at-law at AKD Advocaten & Notarissen in Brussels, specializing in European and Dutch (Competition) Law and at Banning Advocaten in ‘s-Hertogenbosch (NL) in a general legal practice. He obtained his Dutch law (Civil Law and Company Law) degree from the Universiteit Leiden (Netherlands) in 2004 and his Belgian Law degree from the Free University of Brussels in 2014. Niels speaks Dutch, French, English, and a bit of German. He is married and has a daughter Frederica.
