Rochelle Simons

Rochelle is Chairwoman of the Institute of Directors (IoD) Bermuda Branch. She was a catalyst for the 2012 revitalization of the Branch based on her belief that Bermuda would benefit from a larger, more diverse and knowledgeable director talent pool, informed by current governance principles and practices. As a member of the Branch Executive, she developed and launched the local Professional Development platform in 2013 and has been instrumental in its ongoing success. Rochelle was elected Chair of the Branch in 2017. Rochelle is a member of the Institute of Directors UK and holds the Diploma in Company Direction designation.

An insurance practitioner by profession, Rochelle has more than 25 years’ experience in strategic business development, feasibility study and report writing, insurance program structuring and management, business operations and team management. Rochelle currently leads a consulting practice which draws on her diverse business, governance and leadership coaching training and experiences. Rochelle also holds independent non-executive director responsibilities.

In addition to her current volunteer Chair role with the Institute of Directors Bermuda Branch, Rochelle also serves as Trustee to the Bermuda Housing Trust, is a member of Smith’s Parish Council, and Vestry member of St. Mark’s Anglican Church. She has served as a director of the International Centre for Captive Insurance Education (ICCIE), and the Women’s Resource Centre, including 2 years as the Chairwoman. She was also a Trustee of the Bermuda High School for Girls where she served on the Governance Committee. Rochelle was a founding member of the Centre for Leadership, a participant in the Aspen-Bermuda Racial Equity Partnership Initiative and named one of the 100 outstanding women by the Department of Human Affairs, 100 Women, 100 Visions Ceremony, 2011.

Rochelle graduated from St. Mary’s University, Halifax, Nova Scotia with a Bachelor of Commerce degree, major Marketing in 1982. She completed the Associate of the Chartered Insurance Institute (ACII) designation examinations in 1995; the Institute of Directors Certificate in Company Direction designation in 2016 and Diploma in Company Direction designation in 2017.
