Chairman at The Finnish Copyright Society
Jukka LIEDES. Since October 2014, an independent expert offering services in policy issues as well as in legal matters, copyright policy, creative industries and economy. He is currently the Chairman of the Finnish Copyright Society. Until October 2014 he was Director of the Division for Cultural Policy, Ministry of Education and Culture of Finland. Main areas of his national responsibility were: national policies on copyright, culture, audiovisual sector, information society, access to information, cultural heritage, the national institutions in the field culture, including National Audiovisual Institute (and archives), National Board of Antiquities, museums in Finland, the network of public libraries in Finland, as well as the national library for the Blind. He has been Chairman of various bodies in the EU, WIPO, Unesco, Council of Europe, and Nordic Council of Ministers, dealing with i.a. copyright, culture, media, and information society. In WIPO, he was since 1986 without interruption the Chairman of numerous Committees of Governmental Experts, including the SCCR until 2010. He was the Chairman of Main Committees of the WIPO Diplomatic Conferences 1996, 2000, 2013 and 2013, and draftsman of the Basic Proposals of the Conferences 1996 an 2000. He is since February 2016 also acting as vice-Chairman of the WIPO IGC (GRTKF).
