Comparative Advantages of FIDIC in Relation to Other Standard Forms
This session will offer delegates an in-depth understanding of key comparative features between FIDIC and other commonly used standard forms of contract. An international panel of experts will compare and contrast salient aspects of the more commonly used forms of contract and examine which types of projects these may be ideally suited to. Areas analysed include contract administration, claims, dispute resolution and more.
New Case Studies of FIDIC Application Delivered by Users
Experienced FIDIC contract users from the region will once again share lessons learnt in using FIDIC forms of contract to underpin some of the most challenging infrastructure projects in Africa. We have assembled a number of new case studies from different industries and countries to help bring the benefits to life and to help you understand the practical challenges of FIDIC application in practice.
International Contractors' & Consulting Engineers' Panel
This panel session will assemble seasoned Contractors, consulting engineers and in-house contract specialists from large infrastructure and engineering firms operating at the coal face of real-world implementation of FIDIC Forms of contract. The panel will be discussing critical areas of contract administration including optimisation opportunities and common pitfalls to avoid, as well as the latest trend in dispute management and avoidance.
Final Guidance on FIDIC Golden Principles Post-Publication
FIDIC have just published the much awaited Golden Principles guidance and this session will offer an in-depth understanding on safely modifying FIDIC Conditions of Contract by maintaining the integrity of the FIDIC Golden Principles, to minimize disputes. The presenters are members of Task Group 15 on Golden Principles, whose remit is to determine the limits of acceptable modification of Clauses in the Particular Conditions, so as the resultant contract can still be recognised as a FIDIC compliant contract.
Managing Claims Under FIDIC Forms of Contract
A comprehensive session discussing how to minimise claims and, if the claims are disagreed, how to avoid contested claims from becoming disputes. Speakers will focus on claims and procurement, the different approaches to claim quantification in Civil and Common Law, the requirements for notices of claim, and much more besides. This will be of essential attendance for all those involved in projects underpinned by FIDIC forms of contract.
DAABs' Role Under FIDIC Conditions - Current Practices & The New Rules
Along with the review and update of the iconic Rainbow Suite, FIDIC have reviewed and updated their Dispute Adjudication Rules with a view to reflect current best practice for Dispute Boards. Included in the discussion will be an overview of the reformulation of the current 20 clauses of the FIDIC contracts, with a new Clause 21 dedicated to dispute avoidance and resolution and the tools and techniques offered in the New Dispute Avoidance / Adjudication Board (“DAAB”) Procedural Rules.
