Sylvia Gotzen is the Chief Executive Officer of FIGIEFA, the international federation and political representative of independent wholesalers and retailers of automotive replacement parts, in Brussels. FIGIEFA’s aim is to maintain effective competition in the automotive aftermarket and the right of more than 285 million motorist consumers to have their vehicles serviced and repaired at a workshop of their choice. She is also responsible of the coordination secretariat of AFCAR, the Alliance for the Freedom of Car Repair in the European Union, pursuing the same goal in the field of access to Repair and Maintenance Information and fair access to in-vehicle data. AFCAR brings together six European associations representing independent automotive data publishers, motor trade and repair businesses, garage and test equipment manufacturers, motoring and touring clubs, road patrols and leasing and rental companies. Before this assignment she was Deputy Secretary General of the European Movement Germany, an independent non-governmental umbrella organisation of 140 associations and interest groups. Sylvia Gotzen studied Political Sciences at the Universities of Bonn, Berlin and Paris and obtained a master’s degree in European Studies at the College of Europe in Bruges.
