Bernardo was Chairman of the Bankruptcy and Judicial Recovery Commission of OAB-MG for 3 trienniums (2013/2015; 2016/2018 and 2019/2021); and held the position of National President of the Special Commission on Bankruptcy and Judicial Recovery of the Federal Council of the OAB (2013/2016), leading the debate on topics related to Business Insolvency among the country's lawyers, the Judiciary, the Public Ministry, the National Congress and Brazilian business.
He received the 2016 Raymundo Faoro Advocacia Merit Award for his work in the area of business insolvency. In the academic sphere, he has been working as an invited university professor since 2001, teaching the subjects of Business Law, specifically Business Companies and Bankruptcy/Companies Recovery, for undergraduate and graduate courses in Law, Accounting, Business Administration and Economics, in different public and private universities in Minas Gerais.
He is a member of the Brazilian Institute of Business Law (IBRADEMP), Brazilian Institute of Judicial Administration (IBAJUD), National Institute for Business Recovery (INRE), Turnaround Management Association-Brazil (TMA-Brasil), Brazilian Institute of Business Recovery Studies (IBR), Instituto Brasileiro de Gestão e Turnaround (IBGT), International Association of Restructuring, Insolvency & Bankruptcy Professionals (INSOL), International Insolvency Institute, American College of Bankruptcy, International Bar Association (ABA), Inter-American Bar Association (IABA) ) and American Society of International Law (ASIL).
During his career Dr. Bernardo Bicalho has already provided legal advice to several companies, working in partnership with renowned firms in the business area and providing specific advice, through the preparation of Legal Opinions and Opinions in the bankruptcy, contractual and mining areas.
He has extensive experience in the organization and preparation of judicial reports, having actively participated in due diligence procedures and internal audits, management of administrative and judicial litigation, with a financial and accounting bias.
Along with the Judiciary, Dr. Bernardo Bicalho acts as Judicial Administrator in bankruptcies, judicial reorganizations, dissolutions and liquidations of companies, having prestigious recognition of his technical competence attested by the magistrates of the courts of the country, which have made him a reference in bankruptcy-recovery matters.
