Biographies of the Advisory Board
Lorna Strong, Deputy General Counsel for HSBC Global Trade and Receivables Finance (GTRF), is lead counsel for GTRF globally, based at HSBC’s head office in London, UK. Lorna joined HSBC in 2001 and held the position of Deputy General Counsel, HSBC Bank Canada before moving to her present role in 2014. Lorna holds degrees in law and in applied science from the University of British Columbia and has been recognized in the areas of banking law, fraud law and international law, including as a recipient of the 2012 Global Counsel Award for Regulatory (Financial Services): Individual of the Year and in 2017, the Letter of Credit Lawyer of the Year. As an adjunct to her practice, she lectures and provides training on matters relating to banking, compliance, fraud recovery and risk, and is a member of the Legal Committee of the International Chamber of Commerce (ICC), Banking Commission.
Dominic is responsible for BAE System’s Business Ethics Programme across the UK and International businesses. He has deep experience in implementing and operating all aspects of ethics and compliance governance frameworks. Dominic previously held similar leadership roles in Ethics and Compliance at Coca-Cola Enterprises and at BG Group, an oil and gas major. He is also a qualified auditor, and held audit and consulting roles at KPMG for seven years.
Dominic holds undergraduate and postgraduate degrees in Philosophy from St. Andrews University.
Simon Scales has over 30 years significant investigative, security and compliance related experience, formed from an extensive corporate and law enforcement background. He is recognised for having conducted complex Bribery, Corruption, Fraud and Misconduct investigations worldwide, in regulated and non-regulated arenas.
His credentials within the corporate arena draw from his background as an experienced Detective with the Metropolitan Police Service (New Scotland Yard, UK) having studied at the National Crime Faculty. Simon is an accomplished Financial Investigator, Advanced Investigative Interviewer, trainer and mentor to less experienced investigators and has previously been recognised for his corporate delivery of innovative and dynamic approaches to the world of Fraud, Bribery and Corruption (specifically within the Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Customs and Oil & Gas sectors).
Simon is Head of Investigations (EMEA) for BP, having joined in 2011 from TNT, a Dutch multinational (Logistics and Freight Forwarding) where he had held the role of Director of Global Investigations, joining them in 2002.
A qualified compliance and ethics management professional with proven experience in developing strategies and delivering global and market programmes to embed lasting positive cultural change across a large complex multi-national company.
Annie has a strong track record of delivering global programmes including annual compliance certification, global policy and SME management, whistleblower service oversight and communication and capability planning and development.
This is coupled with over seven years’ experience working across Corporate Relations, CSR and Employee communications to give her strong leadership skills in influencing, communications, project management, and cultural change.
